“It feels like an opportunity of a lifetime that I never knew I was able to achieve.” That’s how senior Mackenzie Banas is feeling now that she’s solidified her college plans which includes bowling at Midland University in Fremont, Nebraska. She’s only been bowling for about five years, but is at the top of her game. She was 8th in the Conference last year. Her first varsity tournament is when she realized bowling was her passion, “My coach let me throw the last two balls of the tenth frame,” she recalls. She knocked down nine pins with the first ball, “now the challenge was to pick up my spare to prove to myself and my coach that I belonged to be there. After I picked up the spare, I turned around crying uncontrollably.”
She’s ready for more exciting moments in college, “Being able to travel around the country competing to be top in the nation.”
Mackenzie plans to major in accounting and minor in marketing and management.
