On March 11, the Otsego High School SADD chapter was presented with a statewide honor for their work raising awareness of the dangers of distracted driving. The chapter received the Governor’s Traffic Safety Award.
For the last three years, Otsego High School’s SADD chapter has received a $1,000 grant from Michigan State Police to organize a safe driving campaign with informational materials and activities for students. They have focused on safely driving in the snow, distracted driving dangers and this year focused on the dangers of texting and driving. “The students do a phenomenal job every year educating Otsego High school about the dangers of distracted driving,” says Kelly Henry, an OHS science teacher and SADD Adviser.
